Houston...We have a tomato!

Well it feels like rocket science any how. Sheesh. It's September and I'm getting my first tomato. Actually I can't complain, I started these plants from seeds and I'm happy they've lasted this long. Seriously though, I have totally babied these plants. And today I accidentally broke a piece off with 3 tomatoes and some blooms. I got teary eyed!

Anyway, hopefully as the weather starts to cool down the tomatoes on my plants will start to ripen. For now here is the first look at my Italian Ice Tomato.

The tomato starts out green of course, then turns a white-ish green to a light yellow.

It Bloomed!

Patience and a little TLC (okay a lot of TLC) has paid off. My Moonflower finally bloomed. It has taken ages since that little bud formed. But it started opening up last night before our run and was fully open by the time we got back. Unfortunately it was also dark, yes folks the Moonflower blooms at night. David took a picture of it this morning. But it really looked spectacular last night.

It smells so good...just like perfume!

And look at my little baby tomatoes...hope their ready by our first freeze. :-P Starting from seeds has taken me a while.

Garden Update

I thought I'd take a couple of photos to show the progress of my plants before we head out of town for geek-fest. I finally feel like I have something to show for my hard work because my pansy has finally bloomed! And there are buds on my tomato plant and possibly a bud on my Moon Flower plant.

Take a look!

Ta Dah! Introducing my Autumn Frills Pansy. Notice the frills around the edges of the petals.

Here's one that's almost ready....a little aphid crept into my photo.

Tomato buds?

And maybe a bud on my Moon Flower.
